Snake Updates

Just to keep everyone updated, Salazar has finally eaten. Though the process of getting him to eat was quite sad and depressing. We have been trying to feed him pre-killed forzen to no avail. Merope took to those things like no other. Salazar on the other hand is a picky little thing. We didn't want to have to do live kill because it would have been to sad for us to have to listen to the poor little mouse squeal. We got a hold of Salazar's breeder and found out that she had been doing fresh-killed, meaning that they killed the mouse at the house and then fed it to him. Unfortunately for us, this is what we ended up having to do. We we starting to get nervous because he was so much smaller than Merope and looked like he was loosing his body mass. Luckily he took the poor thing and now has had his first meal in three weeks. We are hoping we'll be able to get him off of fresh-killed and onto frozen like his sister. She is such a great eater. We're planning on starting to feed her twice a week to get her to mature at the same rate as Salazar. Which won't be difficult if he continues to be such a picky and stubborn eater.

Merope's New Suit

Finally, after six days of shedding mayhem, Merope has finally got on her new suit to show up Salazar. However, I think they both look great. Merope is doing great; she has already eaten twice and is now larger than Salazar. Salazar, on the other hand, has not eaten once in the two weeks we have had him. We're told not to worry unless he starts loosing his body size and to give him about six weeks to decide to eat. I wouldn't be able to go on a six week fast that's for sure. Let's hope he eats soon! Here's a clip of Merope!

Snake pics!

Here are a couple of new pictures of the snakes. Salazar is sporting a new suite great for this winters fashion. Merope was so envious she desided to go shoping for herself. Hope you enjoy.

Zoo-Lights

I know there have been four new posts today! But I wanted to catch you all up on what has gone on the past few weeks. Last week, Jake, Al, Ang, Corrie and myself all went to the Zoo-Lights down at Hogle Zoo. It is really cute and fun. I would recommend everyone to go check it out. Here are some pictures from that. And I promise, this is the last post for today! But make sure you check out the other three!

In-Law Christmas Party

Here are some of the pictures from the Hamblin Christmas Party this past week. The one picture of Grandma Rhonda is actually from Thanksgiving, however.

Christmas at the Hamblin House

Here is the house decorated for Christmas. Every year, even though we have the same decorations, the house looks a bit different because we seem to reorganize the living room at least once a year. So here is what it looks like for this year!

Our new babies

Hey everyone! It's been a while since Jake and I blogged! We apologize for not keeping you updated. Anyway, Jake and Al recently decided that they wanted to start breeding snakes. They weren't planning on buying until next August, but Jake got a little excited and now we have two new additions to our menagerie. I would like to introduce Salazar and Merope; obviously named after Harry Potter characters. Salazar is the founder of one of the Hogwarts Houses and Voldermort is descendent from him. Merope is the name of Voldermort's mum. Salazar is my snake and he is an Orange Ghost ball python. Jake's snake is Merope and she is a Spider ball python. Merope is the yellow and black one; and Salazar is the orangey-purple one. They are almost three months old. Salazar was born on September 22 and Merope was born on Septmeber 24. They are both 130 grams and will be ready for breeding in a few years. Salazar will grow to be around four and a half feet and Merope will be around five and a half.

Wedding Pictures and after

Well, as you all know the wedding was last Thursday and it was amazing! I had such an amazing time and am very sad that the day had to pass so quickly! Jake and I spent a couple nights at the Alaskan Inn and shopped around Ogden for a few days,. Then we spent a few days at home doing thank-you cards and watching baseball and football. Then, much to our displeasure, we had to go back to work yesterday. It wasn't so bad all; I had to do was train and then Jake had a project day. But I still would have rather spent another week with him. Ah, well, such is life. I am posting pictures of the wedding even though I know Corrie, Andra and Mom have already posted some, but these are my favorites. Tomorrow we get a copy of all of the pictures that the photographers took as well; so be looking for those too. Love you all so very much! Ash

Nap Time

This is what was going on at ten o'clock in the morning while I was slaving away at the computer doing more address for the wedding invitations. None of these animals had been awake long enough to deserve a nap, but here they are. They woke up long enough to follow me up the stairs and then went right back to sleep! The lazy bones! The one with Poncho is the cutest, I think. He always sleeps so funny! I think he is adorable. Granted he might have been sleeping out of starvation because Jake didn't pick up cat food yesterday and the poor little guy had eaten anything since then. Someone call the ASPCA!!

My Bridals

So today I had my bridals taken. I had about two hours of sleep because I couldn't quiet my nerves; and that was even after I took TylenolPM. So I got up at four to get my hair and make-up done at five to be ready for my photo shoot at seven thirty in the morning. It was early! I haven't been up that early since I quit Jamba Juice!! The photo shoot ended being a fiasco. Corrie and I got to the studio at seven twentyish and the photographer never showed. About eight o'clock we gave up and went home, leaving a messasge on their phone. At about eight thirty I get a call from the photographers explaining that her mom had had a heart attack and she had been at the hospital. Boy did I feel like a complete asshole!! We decided to still do the shoot since my make-up was still on, but I had taken out my hair so I ended up having to throw it back together. I don't think it turned out half bad.l These are pictures that Corrie had taken of the photographer taking pictures of me. I'm glad she did because I feel like the shoot didn't go well at all; I don't think I am at all photogenic. But the pictures Corrie took gave me hope that the photographer got some good shots as well. One can only hope! Tell me what you think and enjoy!
